Choose Your Adventure

All trips start and end at the Indian Channel Boat Launch, where you will park your car for the duration of your rental – no shuttling required!  From this point, you will have access to the majestic, winding Grand River and the many bayous along it.  The bayous are best described as lakes that are connected to the river, creating a combination of a river/lake kayaking experience.  Each bayou is very scenic and you can expect to see an abundance of wild life such as cranes, herons, muskrats, turtles and more.  Below you can view several suggested bayou trips and select one to fit the length of trip you desire.  Or feel free to create your own route and journey anywhere you please.  Maps will be provided for you.

Dermo Bayou

Approximately a 2 to 3 hour paddle, this trip is our easiest to navigate.  This trip will take you through the Indian Channel, along marshlands, and into the Dermo Bayou.

Pottawattomie Bayou
We suggest 4-5 hours for this trip.  That will allow plenty of time for exploring the bayou and stopping for lunch at beautiful Pottawattomie Park, a great halfway point to get out and stretch your legs.  The park has grills, a small swimming beach, and restrooms.

STearns Bayou

Approximately a 2.5 to 3.5 hour trip.  Paddle under the large Green Street Bridge to enter into Stearns.  The bayou starts off wide but becomes more secluded and winding as you progress.

Millhouse Bayou

Approximately a 2 to 3 hour trip.  Paddle down the river and under a small tunnel like bridge into Millhouse Bayou.  This is a short and sweet trip with a small park along the shore of the bayou.

*Note: if you plan to stop at Millhouse park, be sure to ask for some direction beforehand, as this park is difficult to spot.

Robinson Bayou

Approximately a 2.5 to 3.5 hour trip paddle that will take you into marshy areas not accessible by boats. This bayou has the least amount of houses along it and has a more open and rugged nature feel.

Circle Tour

Approximately a 2.5 to 3.5 hour trip.  This paddle will take you down the river and through the Indian channel, making a circle around the island in the center of the map.
